Organic cat food Guide
Before you make your selection, spend a few moments to read this. I will explain some of the best features and benefits of organic cat food to look out for. Here are a few…
- USDA organic
- No added preservatives, antibiotics, pesticides, etc
- Grain-free
- Tasty flavor
- Avoids fillers
USDA organic
The main focus of this article is organic cat food, right? Therefore it is important to check for this. Most of the good brands will use USDA verified organic products to give you extra reassurance.
No added preservatives, antibiotics, pesticides, etc
When you use organic products it is expected that it will not have preservatives, antibiotics, pesticides, etc. However, it’s worth checking that it does not use these ingredients rather than making a costly assumption, are you with me?
Grain-free (Avoids filler)
You may wonder what is so bad about cat food with grain, right? Well, to be honest, I had the same thoughts. After doing my research about grain-free cat food, it is clear to see what the issue is.
The issue is that grain can be used as a cheap filler product for cat food. Instead of using more costly, quality ingredients that provide protein, etc. Grains are a simple way for some cat foods to meet their carbohydrate requirements without providing the quality that you would like for your kitty.
Therefore, it is often in your interest to seek food that does not contain this to improve the chances of getting a quality food product for your kitty.
Tasty flavor
It goes without saying that the flavor of the cat food must be delicious. However, the challenge is, how do you know? I mean, you are not tasting yourself are you?
To be perfectly honest, out of all of these points in this section, this will be the hardest to quantify. The reality is, you won’t know until you get the feedback from your fur baby, are you with me?
The best way is to start is with a small portion to see how she responds. Then, you can gradually increase the amount, to stop the wastage.

What I like about this Organix dry cat food
This dry cat food from Organix is a great organic food for your kitty. It has been closed as organic from the USDA and state that they use free-range chicken for their food. Which is nice to hear.
They also state that the contents do not contain any pesticides, preservatives, or antibiotics. These are typically a big concern for many cat owners who just want the best dry cat food for their kitty.
Saying you are organic is one thing, but if the food is not prepared in an organic kitchen, then it is just not that relevant. The good thing is, Organix state that this product is cooked in an organically certified kitchen.

What I dislike about this Organix dry cat food
The reality is, no matter how great this food is, some cats will refuse to eat it, maybe just because of the flavor, who knows why? This is just part of being a cat owner.
Be prepared, the package is quite heavy. So it is more of a refill package. It is quite hard to hold the full bag while filling her daily feed, are you with me?
Also, it’s worth establishing if your kitty likes dry food in general before picking this up. Why? Because some cats just do not like dry food.

What I love about this Organic recipe cat food
This cat food is another USDA organic offering. It is reported as GMO-free. For those that are not aware of this, GMO means Genetically modified organisms. They have stirred up a lot of debates on their usage in food. And, as a positive, in this case, they are reported to not be included in this cat food.
As well as GMO-free, it is reported to NOT have any antibiotics or grains in the food. Both of which have also had many debates. So, it is reassuring to see that it is not included in this food.
It is also nice to see that it comes with added vitamins and minerals. This helps to make each meal as nutritious as possible.
Ingredients aside, just looking at the product and smelling it, it seems to look good and smell fresh. Obviously, the real test is getting the feedback from your kitty, right?

As much as I love the idea of it being organic. Unfortunately, the packaging is not recyclable. It’s a shame because I assume, like me, most buyers of this product will also like to feel that they can get rid of the packaging in the best way possible, are you with me?
Regarding the taste and flavor. Let’s be honest, not every cat is going to love this. Why? Well, does any cat food do this? No, it’s not realistic. Some will love it, others just won’t, facts!

It is reported to not contain any preservatives, pesticides, growth hormones, or synthetic fertilizer. This is a great list of exclusions. Obviously, none of the said ingredients are ever appreciated. So, it is great to see them not included.

What I do not appreciate about this Organix wet cat food
In some cans of this food, you may notice some are quite liquid-heavy. Meaning, there could be more liquid than you would prefer. Not all the time mind you. In those cases, it would be good if there was more food in it.
And, like most canned foods that have to be transported, you may get the occasional dented can. Honestly, its not a big issue for me, but some people get annoyed with it.
And, like any cat food. Some will love it, others will just not enjoy the flavor.
